At Geneva Watch Days, MB&F unveiled a new version of the SP One—the brand’s most understated timepiece—with an official launch scheduled for September 2026. Crafted from 18K white gold, this 2026 SP One Pavée edition features a blue inclined dial and is lavishly set with diamonds. At first glance, it appears a world away from the understated elegance of the original SP One. Yet, when held in hand, the brilliant sparkle of the diamonds reflecting off the movement accentuates the watch’s sense of airy lightness.
Three Circles
The concept for the SP One originated from a sketch selected by Max Büsser and the MB&F team in 2018—chosen from a series of shelved projects during the COVID-19 pandemic—and was developed alongside the MAD1. The MAD1 would go on to become another significant outcome of this project. This initial sketch was refined and modified with the help of Eric Giroud, a long-time MB&F partner who has profoundly influenced the brand’s case design language. The result is a 38mm dress watch—the slimmest and most compact model in the MB&F catalog. The movement design emphasizes a harmonious unity between the mainspring barrel, the balance wheel, and the dial. Sharing the same circumference, these three elements appear to float in the center of the case rather than resting on a traditional baseplate. Their identical diameters lend a geometric harmony to this sense of suspension. Sapphire crystals on both the front and back allow light to pass through; the bridges are virtually invisible, and most components are concealed beneath these three floating elements, leaving the eye with nothing to anchor upon. The inclined dial cleverly showcases MB&F’s conical gear mechanism, creating a three-dimensional effect that is both understated and technically ambitious. The design is an exercise in minimalism, with the floating effect emerging from the interplay of all other elements.
